Ayurveda - Healing the Body from Within

Ayurveda is a 5000 year old healing tradition that originated from India. It has been developed by ancient Indian sages (called 'Rishis'). These sages were connected to both the physical and the spiritual worlds, and discerned the basic nature of the universe and man's place in it.

Ayurveda is a proven system of prevention and healing. Ayurveda's goal is to achieve health by working toward balance and harmony rather than fighting the disease.

Ayurveda is based on the premise that the human body consists of tridoshas (constitutional tendency), sapta dhatu (seven elements) and three malas (waste disposal mechanisms). The Ayurvedic approach places much emphasis on restoring and maintaining health by utilizing a variety of measures tailored according to one's individual constitution. Maintaining the harmonious balance of these elements is considered to be the key to good health and disease prevention.

Ayurvedic treatment identifies the root cause of the disease or problem and tries to rectify it.

Ayurveda, like all of Vedic philosophy, accepts everything in its appropriate time and place, rejecting nothing. All aspects of medicine may be useful, but the appropriate treatment must he used when required. This is why Ayurveda does not reject modem medicine.
